Interactive Whiteboards
Mental Computation and Problem Solving Strategies
The use of technology in the classroom has increased over the last few years and busy teachers want quality resources to support teaching and learning with the Interactive Whiteboard.
Natural Maths has developed a wide range of resources for IWB use. Standalone products such as the 100 square can be used for:
- mental routines
- spotting patterns in the numbers 1 to 100
- playing games
- explicitly teaching strategies such as the tens strategy for addition and subtraction
- skip counting as the basis of early multiplication.
Like many of our other software packages the opening screen allows teachers to quickly customise the software to relate to the strategies already taught or about to be taught and so to match the level of the students being worked with.
In addition to the stand alone resources we have also incorporated the use of slide sequences, games and video clips into many of our new print resources, such as
- Problem Solving by Level series
- Strategic Maths-Number series
- View and Do Maths series.
The resources are designed to be used for explicit teaching of strategies for mathematical thinking, reasoning and problem solving in line with the expectations of the Australian Mathematics Curriculum.
