| When we started the maths competition Naturally Mathematical in 2001,
we had the expectation that all teams would be able to receive their
competition questions by email, prepare their solutions in WORD, perhaps
using Excel or PowerPoint to help with number crunching and diagrams,
and then to email their solutions to us. We were in for a surprise!
Since that time, it is clear that the team abilities to use ICTs as a
tool for the competition has improved dramatically (as has the quality
and quantity of hardware in schools). But there are still a number of
features of using ICTs as an integral part of maths that we would like
to contribute. This is our starting point for this endeavour. Over time
we hope to put up a number of skill sheets that you can use with
students to help them acquire the skill and confidence to use ICTs effectively
and fruitfully. |
